Saturday, June 16 at Rudyard’s- The Jonx, The Narrator, Woozy Helmet, Tame Tame and Quiet: a preview in haiku

The Jonx! You know ‘em,
You love ‘em; they play that song
That’s very lengthy.

Release, I think, and
Their own seven-inch is quite
Pleasing, in a

loud Indie-ROCK way. But their
Press photos are lame, so here’s
Ed Norton instead:

Woooooooooooooooooooooooozyhelmet: first
Syllable yields visual
Imbalance, even

With standard-scanning
structure (it’s admittedly
a Western construct.)

Where was I? ‘helmet:
I hope they play The Bike Song;
The Well is fine too.

Tame tame and Quiet, or
“TTQ” for short, is a Fort
Worth band- not Dallas,

Ignoramus!- who
have been nominated for
several awards

By F-dub Weekly,
Including Best Rock Artist,
Artist of the Year,

Rock Song of the Year,
Best New Artist, Rock Album
of the Year, and, um-

That’s all. Hey, one of
Them used to be in Benway!
Remember that band?

I do- the drummer

Sunday, March 18th at the Mink with Deerhunter, the Black Lips and the Ponys

We are very excited to announce that we are opening for two smokin’ Atlanta bands: my old friends the Black Lips and my little brother’s band Deerhunter. Headlining the show are the Ponys from Chicago.

Deerhunter recently released their second record, Cryptograms, which I reviewed on snogfever only a week before Pitchfork and Spin discovered how awesome it was. The Black Lips have two records out on the legendary independent label Bomp! and one on garage leaders In the Red. They just released a live album, recorded live in Tijuana by John Reis of Drive Like Jehu and Rocket from the Crypt. Both Deerhunter and the Black Lips are closely involved with the underground Atlanta label Die Slaughterhaus.

These bands are going to be HUGE and seeing them together in your hometown at a time when they are probably entering their creative peak is the opportunity of a lifetime. At least for me, or it would be for me if Houston was my hometown. . . never mind.
The Mink is located on Main St. at Alabama, two doors down from the Continental Club in the same building.
