At Walter’s with Make Believe and Ecstatic Sunshine

Happy Election Day, everyone (or Unhappy, depending on your political persuasion and how things turn out)! Just writing to let you know about a show that’s happening tomorrow night, Wednesday , November 8. That’s right, it’s the Jonx.

We are opening for Make Believe, who are fronted by Tim Kinsella of Cap’n Jazz and Joan of Arc. OK, let’s say you don’t know who those bands are. . . I’m gonna say that Make Believe basically play the same kind of music as the Jonx, except a little bit more ambitious, maybe a little bit more emotional? Freaky, noisy, challenging, interesting rock. The drummer recently spent two months in jail in Oklahoma for indecent exposure after he took off his pants during a show. Somebody warn these guys!
Also playing are Ecstatic Sunshine, an instrumental guitar duo from Baltimore whose music is also very interesting- not quite indie rock and not quite experimental music.
So all in all it’s quite the evening of interesting music.

This show is happening at Walter’s on Washington, 4215 Washington, between Shepherd and Montrose on the southern edge of the Heights, assuming that the show doesn’t get shut down by a noise complaint (What am I talking about?).

Our new album, entitled No Turn Jonx Red, or “it makes sense when you see the picture,” is nearly finished, and will be available in its entirety within a month. Samples can be heard below.

Cheers!
Danny
