At The Proletariat – Houston Independant Music Festival

From Handstamp, The Houston Chronicle’s local music blog:

The floor filled up a bit more for the Jonx’s set of short, short, short avant-garde punk songs. I hadn’t seen the band since last fall and felt that they sounded more put-together than the last time (but not too put-together, of course, because the last thing any punk band wants is a slick production). I am learning not to care that I can’t tell what they’re saying because the band successfully creates minutes, or just moments, of wild terror or fear or confusion or maybe even happiness about being terrorized, afraid and confused. The songs are mercifully short, so one emotion doesn’t drag on too long and an entire set leaves you feeling like you’ve been yelled at for the better part of an hour. It was mildly subversive fun on an afternoon when most people were participating in safe, old-fashioned family fun.
